In just a few weeks, during the weekend of August 18-21, Columbia , South Carolina will experience the first total eclipse visible in this area since 1785. During this event the state's capital will host numerous events leading up to 2 minutes and 36 seconds of rare visibility. The events and viewing are expected to bring an estimated 1 MILLION tourists,which serves as an awesome way for Columbia to be introduced to others who many not be familiar with the small city.

On the day of the Eclipse, August 21, 2017 at 12:30 pm, Motor Supply Co. Bistro will be hosting a VIP Lunch and Eclipse viewing. Go out and enjoy a fulfilling lunch while waiting on a once in a lifetime event provided with seating, lunch, and a viewing right in the heart of Columbia. When the time approaches, advised guests will then move to the parking lot of the restaurant to watch the Eclipse move from its partial to totality while celebrating with delicious food and drinks.

Two Gals and One Fork partnered with Historic Columbia to host two different walking food tours on Saturday August 19th. The tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours (rain or shine) in which you will visit the top 5 rated restaurants  in Columbia. Enjoy learning about the history of the state's capital while feasting on what's commonly known as southern cuisine. All you need to do is sit back, relax, and let your mind explore.

From August 18th to the 25th, Old Mill Brewpub in Lexington will make a special drink honoring the Total Eclipse. The drink is called Barrel Aged Beer. It is only available for a limited time and is as dark as night. Very similar to how our skies will appear in the afternoon of the Total Eclipse. The drink is made up of 5 lbs of aged cacao nibs and roasted chilis which were encased in a bourbon barrel for over 6 months. It is not the only contribution to the special weekend, so head on down to grab a drink and a show.
