How to Eat Like a Local

During visitor's stay the city of Columbia wants visitors to feel as if they are a part of the community and what is going on around them, not to mention the amazing event that will occur right before their eyes.

To encourage eating like a local, on the front page of this site was provided some restaurants and ideas visitors should definitely check out during Eclipse weekend. What makes you feel like a local? while visiting, here are a few tips and tricks on how to eat like a local Southerner and feel more at home.

P.S.: No one will ever know you're from the North of the North, West of the West, or East of the East.

1.) Ask Around- Find the restaurants that locals find most appetizing and give it a try. Maybe you'll start to crave Southern cuisine.

2.) Plan your visit - DON'T--I repeat--DON'T arrive unprepared. You need to conduct research before you get to your destination of choice. You want to make sure you are familiar with what your destination has to offer. Seek out popular sites like Trip Advisor or Expedia for great articles about the area.

3.) Last But Not Least Choose Appetizers Over Entrees - We all know that appetizers are normally a lot smaller than full entrees, so, instead of going all out and paying full price for a meal that you may or may not like, try going for something smaller and less expensive so you don't waste your money. Especially if you are new to the town and the food.
